Sequoia National Park
The first chunk of this last Scamp was clouded with smoke from all the wildfires in the West. The worst was at Sequoia National Park.
I had planned to stay a few days to really take in the beauty of the place, but the smoke was so bad it chased Sam and me out after one night. Itchy eyes, trouble breathing – it was tough to be there.
It was a bit clearer when you got up into the trees.

Sequoia is a must, and I’m disappointed I only got to spend a little time there. Definitely check it out if you’re in California – like Redwood National Park to the north, there’s much wisdom and experience with these trees, and they really do feel like sentient beings. I’m not ashamed to admit I hugged more than one on this Scamp, and next thing you know I’ll be throwing myself in front of logging trucks. (Ha ha! Just kidding, Mom!)
