So Okay, Beaches Are Pretty Great

Despite the fact that I grew up on beaches in San Diego, they don’t generally draw me in these days. I’m not that person who, when dreaming of travel, immediately pictures sand and surf.

But. When you’re in California, like I am, you have to go to the beach. It’s like not going to the French Quarter when you’re in New Orleans – it may seem too obvious, but once you’re there you’re so happy.

Here are a few different takes on the beaches in Santa Monica and, I have to admit, I had a great time hanging out there.

The day started out dark and moody.

Then it got a little brighter. (Note the stern General Seagull in the left corner. He was staking out his turf.)
